8.0, Legacy achievements

There were an unusual (I think) large amount of achievements that became grandfathered (“Legacy”) in the pre-patch 8.0. Previously it has been a few factions, ahead of the curve sort of raid accomplishments, vanilla pvp titles, pvp seasonal accomplishments etc.

This time e.g. two battlegrounds were retired. I had all on Strand of the Ancients, and all but one on Ashran. A huge pile. I got Field Medic on last day before patch. I put some effort into getting that one. Very nice title! I am thinking of making some unhealthy looking mog on my warlock just to have a nice contrast, but have not got that far yet. But I digress… Why they make first aid production be a thing for tailors is very odd. Not that bandages are as important as they used to be. Get off my lawn! Hello Classic servers!

The old Honor/Prestige system also went they way of the dodo. Or at least gene-modified into some other bird. I was quite close to level 22 on last day, so made sure I reached that, since I was not totally convinced the calculation to new system would be flawless. I think it went well. Not that I have tried to check the numbers. I do have a life, I imagine. So for every Prestige level there was a 10 point achievement, so I should have 22 of those as Legacy? Or one that has the sum of all achivements? No. I turns out I have four. Say what?

Why 6, 10 and 14 but not 18? Does not make much sense. However, the top one includes all 22. Or at least list them. This seems like a bug. I thought that grandfathered achievements count into the total (they should) but do they? Hard to know as there are no points shown.

I am not a huge achievement collector, but would be nice if at least the display made sense.

  1. My goodness, what an overhaul they did!

I’m confused about the Honor. But no matter to me.

Congratulations on the Field Medic ๐Ÿ™‚ I wanted that so very much. I just needed four more to drop. But didn’t have the time to dedicate, it was too RNG for me. Can I count on your bandages in the battlefield? ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to seeing a fitting transmog ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I lacked three since way back on Field Medic, and had to farm about an hour for each. Found some nice spots to do continuous killing, so the drop rate was quite low, but last day before patch we were pretty OP.

In old system something happened every prestige level (achi, etc). Now its every 25 [corresponding to 4-5 old levels, I think]. Mount reward, as far as I know.

I can make bandages. Not sure there is much use for them. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Even makes me a bit nostalgia. While pet took care of mobs while dots were taking their toll, plus eventual one or two mobs feared away, was a good time to bandage for the over-optimistic warlock back when it was a bit harder ^^

      1. That was very lucky! Congrats again ๐Ÿ™‚ I spent over 3 nights in Suramar without a single drop. It discouraged me, I think.

Aha, ok. Ive not checked my Honor levels yet. Where do we see that now?

Oh, how!? I’ve not looked into professions yet at all. But I rolled tailoring just to be able to make bandages. I’m so silly, but nostalgia is strong with this one ๐Ÿ˜‰

Awww, yeah, I remember warlocks doing that too. Good times…Aww…

        1. I farmed at very specific spots recommended on wowhead. I got many more recipes I already had than the ones I wanted. You must be very unlucky to not get them ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
You see your honor level in Group Finder tool under pvp tab. It’s a circle now.
Hey I can make bandages for you! โค

  2. I didn’t really keep up with the patch notes so didn’t realise there was a PVP change coming. I had just finished getting my main to Honor 4 so she got the pony before the patch and that seems to have converted into 22 now (taking into the account the little bit of honor my other toons had that was added to my total),
I’ll have to read around to see what that all means now, but what was exciting is that it gave me the alliance honor pet as I was horde when I got initial honor pet.

    1. Oh that was nice to get pet from both sides! I have not checked (I play alliance but have one 110 horde).
The honor is account wide now, so if one wants to pvp with more than one char, then honor is the sum of chars’ honor. E.g. if one is after a specific achievement, and one char is suited best for this, then one might try that. Yesterday I realised my druid (due to stealth capability) was probably best fitted for an achi (disarm bombs) in Isle of Conquest, so I tried that. I am a lousy pvper on feral druid, but I started on achi and got honor for all my chars, so that was nice. Probably a long term project for me.
